Many women relish the challenge of singing in a quartet where they are the sole owners of their parts.
Finding the right balance of voice and ability can be a challenge in itself, but when that is achieved the feeling from the ringing chords makes all the effort worthwhile. Quartets are afforded many of the same performance opportunities as choruses: performing on shows, competing in contests, and performing at social, civic, and public events. An annual event for many quartets is delivering Singing Valentines where quartets are hired to deliver songs to an unsuspecting recipient. Delivering Christmas carols and performing as strolling carolers have also become very popular activities for quartets during the holiday season.
Quartets that are registered with Harmony, Inc. are eligible to compete in their respective area contests held each spring. Those achieving a qualifying score are eligible to move on to the International contest held each November. The top-scoring quartet is recognized as Harmony Queens.
